Need help packing up Hybrids into .exe

Hello All,

I've downloaded an OS for the Curve 9300 to test on, I then removed some useless apps from it as Voice Activated Dialing using BBH-Tool. Then I wanted to pack it into .exe using a program I have on Windows. I was just trying simple things as removing some useless apps to test with friends first until I get officially into the Hybrid business.

I packed the OS folder from the Loader Files which is located into Program Files, I created the .exe. Friends of mine downloaded the .exe, installed it on PC, It correctly extracted the files into their Loader folder just as if they used a setup from RIM. But when they tried to load the OS onto their devices. First the Loader gave an error saying Unavailable application (net.rim.platform.ecmascript). It's awkward that even in the Original RIM OS files before shrinking it the net.rim.platform.ecmascript was not there but It was fine. So I asked them to download the Loader from BlackBerry website (which is BlackBerry - Software Updates - New Update Software for BlackBerry Smart Phones - US ). They did which then didn't give the error anymore. When they loaded the OS I created it gave them Error 200 on the BlackBerry, It didn't connect again and refuses to restart, Until they did the brick method of course and used an official OS from RIM. (Yes their Vendor.xml files were removed)

I need your help knowing exactly what files I need to pack so that the OS installs fine on the devices. Thanks

Best Regards,
M.Rizk

Transparency in hybrid building

Hi

I am proposing a certain level of transparency in hybrid construction. Right now, there is no way to tell what the hybrids contain. Ideally I'd like to see a list of CODs included with each hybrid. This list would be a file listing of all the COD files, and distribution they originate from.

Part of this stems from my own curiosity as to how the hybrid is constructed, and part of it stems from a very real concern that hybrids can be used to deliver malicious code.

It might seem like a huge amount of work to generate this documentation. However, I have to assume that hybrid builders maintain such lists internally to track what COD versions they use during their testing phase. I think these lists should be public. In the same way that open source software can be audited, this would allow other people to audit the hybrid contents, and go back to the source distributions obtained from RIM web servers, and compare the files to the hybrid contents.

Hybrid builders who wish to keep their construction proprietary would be free to do so.

I have been thinking about conducting this kind of audit myself, by doing md5sum hashes of CODs from common distributions, building a searchable database, and then dissecting hybrids to determine where the files came from. It would be nice to not have to do this myself, if the hybrid builders would provide this information on their own, for the sake of transparency.

Thoughts?

Hi, first of all, I'm from Ecuador. We have 3 carriers, Claro, Movistar and Alegro (CNT) (They also use 2G - 3G connections), here's my question. My phone its from Rogers. When I wanna install any hybrid, I use the .723 Pelephone base. I've tried Berrylicious, wu B@stard's hybrids, etc. (If you're going to ask the way I install the hybrids, I first do the factory reset, then wipe, and finally shrunk it with BBHtool) I don't know if I'm missing something, If I use my phone on 3G, I get high % of discharge (8 - 10%, when other people are having 2 - 4% of discharge using Aikido, Alcohol, Berrylicious Returns, etc) also sometimes getting high temperature (Using 3G, in 2G it works fine, normal temperature). Should I use another base? (From another carrier) Or what can I do?

OSBB 707v6 for OS6 BlackBerrys (11/17/2012)

It's that time again, time for another OS6 Hybrid.
This build is largely made up of OS 6.0.0.747, but has a few 6.0.0.723 and 6.0.0.719 files where there aren't newer possibilities. It also has about 200 .cods from the recently released 7.1.0.755.
It's been tested and confirmed to work only on the 9650, but as always there's no reason why it shouldn't work on other OS6 BlackBerrys.

Installation instructions:

Install the base OS of your choice; some suggestions:

9300: 6.0.0723
9330: 6.0.0.707
9650: 6.0.0.707
9700: 6.0.0.723
9780: 6.0.0.723
9800: 6.0.0.747
(to the best of my knowledge these are the latest OSes for these BlackBerrys)

Download the desired files t o your desktop; there are two choices:

The Full Hybrid
Just the 7.1 files

For the 9800, you only need the 7.1 files. For other BlackBerrys, it depends on if you want the updated 6.0.0.747 and other files.

Extract the Java folder and .alx files into your OS folder located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files.

If needed, delete the vendor.xml files. If desired, shrink the OS.
Backup your data and apps just in case. If you want to do a clean install (which generally isn't needed, but is an option), wipe your BlackBerry using BBSAK or another program.
Install the hybrid using App Loader, which is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.

Download:

You can download OSBB 707v6 from three locations:

SCrApps.org
Hybrids.tk
MediaFire

That's it, you should be good to go! If you have any other questions, just let the OSBB team know and we'll get back to you.

RETURN OF THE PRIMES!!! Eta Prime is here!

Holy CRAP!!!

It's been almost six months, since I last released a hybrid OS...THE PRIMES ARE BACK!

Eta Prime is the latest of a line of Primes, that accomplishes the need of 9810 users, specifically.

The fastest, consistent boot and reboot of all the Primes thus far; along with the proven stability, battery life...blah, blah, blah and yak, yak, yak EVER!!!

Just download it and install. Works great.

Installation instructions: WARNING!!!

If you do NOT have experience in installing a hybrid or have not spent the proper time informing yourself about hybriding, DO NOT install this hybrid. Your device is not my device, and this Beta leak and its parts my wreck havoc on your phone and its operating system. That said, anyone in need of additional support after a successful installation must provide a system read and report. If any of what I’m saying sounds foreign to you, DO NOT PROCEED.

As with the former Primes, installation is simple: download and save Eta Prime.zip to your desktop, unzip the content to your desktop; next - if you haven't already - download and install the Cincinnati Bell .746 OS to your computer, once installation is complete, navigate to the Loader Files folder, open, and rename the official .746 folder "(official os)" and leave this folder open; drag and drop Eta Prime's folder into the open Loader Files folder and delete "(Eta Prime)" in the name string of that folder.

You are now ready to install a Prime hybrid OS.

I recommend using BBHTools to unshrink any apps that I've already shrunk - because I use alot of betas - then shrink to your liking.

ALSO...the LED selection feature is not available in this build. I took it out for a reason. If you want it, DO NOT INSTALL THIS HYBRID.

Thanks

THE TWIN PRIMES...THETA PRIME for AT&T and 9810 users!!!

Hot on the heels of Eta Prime, comes Theta Prime.

Based on the proven Cinci Bell .746 OS, AT&T subscribers can enjoy the lastest operating system, and fluid movement. Mixed with near full .794 java, there's no need wait for for an official update...have it NOW!!

Besides an overall update to the core system and core system apps, an updated set of browser files enhances user response and touch performance. Virtual keyboard also uses predicted inputs alot better than previous OS. Reboots are as fast, if not noticably faster than Eta Prime, while battery performance - although a subjective matter - remains similar to Eta. Some verified reports of increased battery performance, by users of multiple apps, have been shared by early adopters.

Noted issues - the updated YouTube app has been reported to have an error. I personally have not installed the YouTube app, because I use the site direct. But, YouTube DOES work properly through the BB internet browser. It was also reported that there may be video play back errors with the FB beta app, but play back via BB internet browser is confirmed working. Please report these errors to the Beta forums, where your complaints help in locating and repairing these errors.

ALSO - The LED functions were not removed in this build. I don't use it, but after constant death threats, and burning bags of doggy surprise at my doorstep, because it wasn't in Eta Prime, I didn't touch it in Theta Prime.

B@stard Hybrid: Anticlockwise (20121204)

Created by wu-wei

Those of you who regularly use my builds know the drill, but this one incorporates new files from the recently-leaked 7.1.0.794 OS and a few files from 7.1.0.746 (9790)...because I am superstitious.

This build has been through minimal testing, but it performs very well in terms of battery life and memory management. The fine-tuning from the past has really produced a solid build this time around.

My hybrids go through testing on several devices, and I am confident that my builds work well on all OS6 devices.

Recommended base OS versions:

9300: 6.0.0.723
9650: 6.0.0.707 (or 6.0.0.719)
9700: 6.0.0.723
9780: 6.0.0.723
9800: 6.0.0.723

While these base OSes are recommended, Anticlockwise will work over any 6.0.0.6xx or .7xx OS. If you have found another OS in those series that works best for you, certainly feel free to use that one instead.

Please note that some users have reported a "break-in" period with any hybrid. That is, the first day or so has poor battery life, but then things stabilize and we start sipping at the battery again. Battery life is critically important to me, so I am always mindful of those issues (and reluctant to leave my beloved 9700 for some shiny new OS7 device). I have not experienced this phenomenon myself, but I did want to mention that it is possible.

To install this hybrid, extract the contents of this zip file into the Java folder of the base OS you choose to use. On my system, these files were extracted into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v6.0.0.723_P6.6.0.248\Java.

When you extract the cod files into the folder listed above, you should be prompted to confirm that you want to replace existing files. If you are not prompted, then you are probably trying to extract to the wrong directory and the hybrid files will not be installed on your device.

If you do not know exactly what you're doing, then you should choose one of the following options:

1. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THIS HYBRID.
2. Read my guide on the CrackBerry forums, available here: Hybrid OS Installation Guide
3. Read any How To posts by elite1 in practically any hybrid or leaked OS thread on CrackBerry.com
4. Search the CrackBerry forums and read as much as you can find about how the BlackBerry OS loader process works.

This package does NOT include any third party applications at all. I build hybrid OSes. I do not promote any apps or force users to choose whether they want to install apps they may not want. If you are looking for a particular third party app, I probably have an opinion about it and may be able to tell you where to find it (I'm talking free or paid versions, NOT WAREZ).

9930 Full Java Swap: 9930 7.1.0.755 Base + 9900 7.1.0.794 Java

$

I successfully did a full java swap for the 9930 with the 9900 7.1.0.794 Java over the 9930's 7.1.0.755 for base + radio/SFI. Working well for me so far. I tend to like the latest full release or full java swap better than more complicated hybrids, at least when it's working as well as this.

The fundamentals for the process come from discussion in the BL Returns thread.

You need to add two files from this to Platform.alx or inject them manually. The process is simple:

  1. Install 9930 OS 7.1.0.649 or 7.1.0.755 (I'm using .755)
  2. Install 9900 OS 7.1.0.746 or 7.1.0.794 (I'm using .794)
  3. Copy all of the files from the 9900 "Java" folder into the 9930 "Java" folder, replacing all of the duplicates. Leave the other files from the 9930 there too.
  4. Add these to the 9930 Platform.alx, mimicking all of the other .cods in the file.
    • net_rim_bb_phone_qchatptt_resources.cod
    • net_rim_bb_virtual_keyboard_layout480x640.cod
  5. Shrink if you care.
  6. Run Loader.

Or the ghetto version of the process:

1,2,3 as above.
Don't bother adding them to Platform.alx. Just do the java swap and run Loader. After it backs up the phone, wipes it, and loads the new OS, it will reboot. While it's rebooting, Loader will say "reconnecting ... this may take a few minutes" before it tries to reload your data. While it's rebooting ... inject both files using BBHTool. The phone will reboot again, but Loader won't be interrupted ... when the phone finishes rebooting, Loader will detect it and restore your data.

Or at least, that worked for me. I figured the worst case was that Loader would miss it and I'd have to restore using BB DM.

Hello everybody,

Although I do not write much here, I have a Bold 9900 and am an avid crackberry. I elaborated a hybrid OS based on the Chinese version 7.1.0.794_P5.1.0.571 (This base: SFI, platform.alx, blackberry.alx, media loader.alx, specifications and package). I used the JAVA files from version 9620_v7.1.0.807 (edited) and the rest of the ALX files from version 9981M_v7.1.0.794_P5.1.0.571.

It was excellent both in terms of performance as compared to battery consumption!!!

Here is the link to the complete Hybrid OS download (Install any 9900 base, replace all files, and click the loader.exe.).

Greetings!

Ps.: Link OK!

B@stard - B5 (20121210) OS5 Hybrid

I have been tempted to roll back to OS5 lately, so I made a new hybrid. It's been a long time, I think, since anyone released an OS5 build for the 9700....so here's one for those folks who are not willing to make the jump to OS6, but who ARE willing to run a hybrid. I think maybe there are 2 or 3 of you still out there.

I built this to run over 5.0.0.862, but it should work on most recent base OSes.

The build includes files from 6.0.0.x, 7.0.0.x, and even some 7.1.0.x.

This hybrid has been through minimal testing on the Bold 9700 platform.

I have not personally tested this hybrid on any other devices, or on any other OS versions as a base install.

I will not be providing any support for this hybrid. I have not encountered any bugs with this build, but I have not run it through extensive testing either.

To install this hybrid, extract the contents of this zip file into the Java folder of the base OS you choose to use. On my system, these files were extracted into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v5.0.0.862_P5.1.0.175\Java.

Again, I will not provide any support for the installation or operation of this hybrid. It is intended for experienced users.
