B@stard Hybrid: Ascot (20130222)

Created by wu-wei

Those of you who regularly use my builds know the drill, but this one incorporates new files from the recently-released 7.1.0.865 OS.

I have streamlined this build considerably, and I left many files unchanged in favor of stability.

This build has been through thorough testing, and performs quite well relative to my previous builds.

My hybrids are tested on several devices, and I am confident that my builds work well on all OS6 devices.

Recommended base OS versions:

9300: 6.0.0.749
9650: 6.0.0.707 (or 6.0.0.719)
9700: 6.0.0.749
9780: 6.0.0.749
9800: 6.0.0.749

*For all 6.0.0.749 OS installers, Go to Austria -> Free Download Area -> Endgeräte -> Rim Devices -> *DEVICE* -> Handheld Software 6.0 rel 3159

While these base OSes are recommended, Ascot will work over any 6.0.0.6xx or .7xx OS. If you have found another OS in those series that works best for you, certainly feel free to use that one instead.

Many members of my testing group and I have found better results using the 6.0.0.723 SFI file with a full java swap from 6.0.0.749 then placing Ascot over top of that.

Please note that some users have reported a "break-in" period with any hybrid. That is, the first day or so has poor battery life, but then things stabilize and we start sipping at the battery again. Battery life is critically important to me, so I am always mindful of those issues (and reluctant to leave my beloved 9700 for some shiny new OS7 device). I have not experienced this phenomenon myself, but I did want to mention that it is possible.

To install this hybrid, extract the contents of this zip file into the Java folder of the base OS you choose to use. On my system, these files were extracted into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v6.0.0.723_P6.6.0.248\Java.

When you extract the cod files into the folder listed above, you should be prompted to confirm that you want to replace existing files. If you are not prompted, then you are probably trying to extract to the wrong directory and the hybrid files will not be installed on your device.

If you do not know exactly what you're doing, then you should choose one of the following options:

1. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THIS HYBRID.
2. Read my guide on the CrackBerry forums, available here: Hybrid OS Installation Guide
3. Read any How To posts by elite1 in practically any hybrid or leaked OS thread on CrackBerry.com
4. Search the CrackBerry forums and read as much as you can find about how the BlackBerry OS loader process works.

This package does NOT include any third party applications at all. I build hybrid OSes. I do not promote any apps or force users to choose whether they want to install apps they may not want. If you are looking for a particular third party app, I probably have an opinion about it and may be able to tell you where to find it (I'm talking free or paid versions, NOT WAREZ).

What are the chances of having Hybrid BB10 OS's ??

Now that BB10 has been out in the wild for a few weeks, a question for all of those builders of the Java based Hybrid OS's that we all use and love, what are the prospects of seeing Hybrid OS's for BB10 devices ?

What will become of 7.1 OS people like me as OS10 takes over

More Prime for your mind! Mu Prime v2

So I went into bestbuys, to pre order a Zed...which will be for my second line, because my 9810 will always be first!!

With that being said...

Mu Prime for the Torch 9810 is available for download

No secret sauce, or colorful enhancements. No install glitches or smoke puffs after installation. Just quality and performance. Kind of like why your favorite car is still in your driveway - it just works.

Installation instructions: WARNING!!!

If you do NOT have experience in installing a hybrid or have not spent the proper time informing yourself about hybriding, DO NOT install this hybrid. Your device is not my device, and this hybrid and its parts my wreck havoc on your phone and its operating system. That said, anyone in need of additional support after a successful installation must provide a system read and report. If any of what I’m saying sounds foreign to you, DO NOT PROCEED.

As with the former Primes, installation is simple: download and save Mu Prime.zip to your desktop, unzip the content to your desktop; next - if you haven't already - download and install OS 7.1.0.861 to your computer, once installation is complete, navigate to the Loader Files folder, open, and rename the official .861 folder "(official os)" and leave this folder open; drag and drop Mu Prime's folder into the open Loader Files folder AND REMOVE THE SUFFIX "Mu Prime". Apploader will now be able to "see" the hybrid content and install.

You are now ready to install a Prime hybrid OS.

I recommend using BBHTools to unshrink any apps that I've already shrunk - because I use alot of betas - then shrink to your liking.

NOTE - THERE IS AN EXTRA JAVA FOLDER CONTAINING STRAIGHT .861...IT'S RENAMED SO THAT APPLOADER CANNOT "SEE" IT. DON'T FREAK OUT.

As usual, I'm here to fully support Mu Prime. If there's anything outside of the subject of this thread, that you may need assistance with, PM me.

Install and enjoy

ZED PRIME...for all OS10 devices!!! Yes, this is a hybrid!

An OSBB exclusive!!!

Some of you know me well, most of you know my work, I have a problem with leaving well enough alone. Although there was major concern with legacy users, about OS10 locking us out of features and customization, the dedicated always manage to find a way.
I bring to you ZED PRIME!!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!

THIS IS NOT FOR THE REGULAR USER!!! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ANY OF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, IN THIS THREAD, DO NOT ATTEMPT AN INSTALL. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BRICKING YOUR DEVICE. IF, AFTER READING THIS WARNING, YOU STILL WANT TO ENJOY THE GOODIES, READ THRU THIS ENTIRE THREAD, WEIGH THE OPINIONS CAREFULLY, AND MAKE A DECISION BASED ON YOUR CHOICE ONLY!!!

I'm not going to go into my usually eloquent prose, because I'm too excited and want you to have this NOW!!!

Instructions...please follow CAREFULLY!!!

Download the Dev beta OS10.1.0.1485 - https://developer.blackberry.com/bla...alphas/update/ - Make sure you select the CORRECT OS for your device, unzip and save it to your desktop

Download and install the awesomest OS10 desktop utility: vnBB10 - vnBB10 – Utility for Side-load app from bar files into BlackBerry 10 and get Hardware ID | vnbb's blog - please donate to the Dev.

Download and unzip my file to your desktop - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bwr-...it?usp=sharing

Connect your BB10 device to BlackBerry Link, and do a FULL backup of your BB10 device. Yes, I said FULL backup. The I do NOT want you to blame me for lost data, after I stressed TWICE to do a full backup. If Link doesn't want to do a full backup, do not continue with the install of .1485, or this hybrid.

Once your full backup is complete, start the Dev Beta exe, and wait for the install of .1485 to complete. You will have to go thru the setup process briefly. Once you installation is complete, unplug from your computer and do a battery pull

Next, enter Development Mode and create a password. Then plug your device back into your computer, and allow set up to pair your device. If Link starts, reduce the screen. Wait for your computer to ask for password input, and comply.

Now start vnBB10. Make sure you provide the proper I.P. info, and the password you created, and select "connect". Once your device info and phone image appears, select "install apps", and navigate to the unzipped ZED PRIME folder. Select all and hit "enter", and hit
"install"...and wait. Once everything is complete, close out of vnBB10, and restore all previous information with BB Link.

Enjoy!!!

MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENTS: BBM Voice/Video could not be recovered, Voice Control doesn't work, Docs2go may work if

installed from BB World, but I did NOT include it in this build.

I've added language support, so please let me know if these work, for my non US friends..

If you do not like how any of this works, after installation, plug your device back into your computer, start BB Link, and reinstall the

previous OS available for download. Do the happy dance.

Neo Prime for the Torch 9810 (and other models, if you're feeling lucky)

Having been drunk with Zed juice, one would think I've lost love for the best OS7 device ever...it was the Torch, that brought BB users WebKit browsers, real touch interfacing, and fun!! So for those of us whose upgrade are a few months out, I give you a new Prime. Neo Prime!!

As with the former Primes, installation is simple: download and save Neo Prime.zip to your desktop, unzip the content to your desktop; next - if you haven't already - download and install OS 7.1.0.912 to your computer, once installation is complete, navigate to the Loader Files folder, open, and rename the official .912 folder "(official os)" and leave this folder open; drag and drop Neo Prime's folder into the open Loader Files folder AND REMOVE THE SUFFIX "Neo Prime", if there is a suffix attached. Apploader will now be able to "see" the hybrid content and install.

You are now ready to install a Prime hybrid OS.

I recommend using BBHTools to shrink any outdated apps, to avoid deleting any newer or beta versions that you currently have installed.

As usual, I'm here to fully support Neo Prime. If there's anything outside of the subject of this thread, that you may need assistance with, PM me.

Hi guys, i know this thread might be a little controversial because of it's obvious title but this something that im curious about

First of all sorry for my bad english

So, i came across this hybrid thing not long ago and the first hybrid os that i tried to load on my device (Blackberry curve 9300) was Berrylicous VI.
I was amazed with this new "sorcery" and how my blackberry got so mch faster.
But then i got greedy. If that was great what about all the other hybrid os? and what about those that used os 7.1 files???
were they faster?
Well i started searching and i found nothing that could help me... so i decided to ask you guys! I would like to know what hybrids do you use and their advantages.

I have found:
-B@stard (latest build Ascot)
-Berrylicous VI
-Raikkohad v11 (747 edition 3)
-Raikkohad v12 (749 edition 1)
-MaxHybrid

and from this list i have used berrylicous and raikkohad v12. Now, i have other questions too.
1- (most obvious) What do you think it's the best? advantages and disadvanteges
2- Are those hybrid who use more os 7 files better? or buggier?
3 Berrylicous VI ran great and i only tried raikkohad v12 because it had more os 7.1 files and because i had read it was better but this one has a giant memory leak. its constantly going from 100 to 80 to 50 then hangs for a sec and etc... do you think i should wait even more for the os to stabilize? is raikkohad v11 cny better? or just i just shut up and stay with berrylicous?
4- If you recommend any other would you please post the links for tuturials since some of them dont have installers and are more confusing.

Thanks a lot, i know it's a big and maybe boring thread but i think there are many os6 people who would love to know this too. Love crackberry! and love my bb

Curve 9300 Hybrid OS5 ?

Hello guys

I have a blackberry curve 9300. I love my phone and I think blackberrys are great for what i like to do (some social networking, browsing, mp3 and texting).
Currently I'm using a Blackberry OS 6 Hybrid: B@stard - Ascot edition and this is great. It's very stable, lots of memory, perfect performance...
However i have a huge problem... 256 Mb of ram are just not enough since the os ocupies about 110...
So i have been searching around and i guess i found a solution. How about loading an hybrid os 5? it would have BEAST performance and it would run smooth since these phones originally used os5...

Are there any hybrids up to date for os5 ? or am I digging old stuff that should be buried?
I cant afford a new phone... My original idea was to use a Willyboy hybrid but he has no version for my 3g, should i use
the 8520?
Help me guys, i guess you have more experience than i do :p
Thanks in advance

HELLO EVERYBODY!!

I'm a huge fan of hybrids and I decided to create this tread for everyone who is still using os 5 and
can't have the pleasure of running a Hybrid OS 5.

So after a lot of digging here ant there guess what I found? An old B@stard...
For everyone who would want this, here's is the tuturial:

-Backup ALL you data... You know the drill, contacts, important stuff etc, with Desktop Manager. You can
also backup apps but recommend a fresh install

-Install BBSAK (google it)

-Install the latest OS 5 for your device. You can find it here (BlackBerry - Desktop & Device Software Download Sites for BlackBerry users - US) choose your carrier or search for the best version. PERSONALLY I HAVEN'T USED ANY OS 5... BUT I GUESS YOU CAN SEARCH FOR THE BEST BASE OS. I downloaded from Vodafone PT the latest os 5.

-Download B@stard for OS5. Now you go to your loader files folder and replace the java with B@stard's java (search for a hybrid installation guide if you dont know how to do it)

-Load it up and enjoy

BIG GIANT THANKS FOR WU WEI. His hybrids are the best and he really saved my tail. I hope this os 5 gives me more performance... Good Luck

Hi CB form users, my first post

I've been used to using BlackBerries for a while now, but never updated my OS, i just got hold of my new 9900. ( i know its too late)

My Carrier is Etisalat, Running OS 7.0 Bundle 1465 (v7.0.0.296)
The Latest Available update as per my BlackBerry Desktop software is 7.0 Bundle 2406

I really want to update to the Latest 7.1 OS, but i am unsure which OS is the most stable to try out, so i need suggestions, plus, what is this hybrid people speak about? Heard its much more stable, can i have the best Hybrid OS available for my 9900? Can i have step-by-step instructions on how to install these hybrid OS? I've had a hard time understanding the Berrylicio-us tutorials
